WRITING MONDAY AND TUESDAY

  • independent writing (free choice of topic), shared writing (rondo or circle writing) with guided writing-mini-lessons
  • writing a survey about an important issue or a silly one
  • writing 100 questions as a group about a topic that matters to you
  • writing a letter or an e-mail
  • writing about learning styles
  • writing a progress report
  • writing about neighborhood field trip
  • writing about weekend news/personal news
  • writing about something you've heard on the street or on TV
  • writing your own short fiction

READING WEDNESDAY

  • independent reading (silent reading), guided reading, reading aloud with a partner, choral reading
  • reading comprehension and reading for a test
  • readind aloud in small group
  • reading lyrics of a song and explaining them to others

TECHNOLOGY THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

  • create or suggest independent project using technology
  • record your own text or your thinking about a topic
  • create a Powerpoint or a Google presentation
  • take pictures and create a photo journal
  • design a survey using Survey Monkey
  • design a book or magazine
  • create a movie about the walking field trip
  • record yourself reading your favorite passage from a book
  • create a short film using sketches, stick people or play doh
  • create a skit about something that matters to you
