Chaperone Information

We are taking two trips to Eagle Bluff this school year:

  • Team Wildcats March 11-13, 2019 (Mon 9:45am--Wed 3:45pm)
  • Team Fireworks March 13-15, 2019 (Wed 9:45am--Fri 3:45pm)

Without our parent chaperones our trips to Eagle Bluff would not be a success.  Each parent will be placed with a Sanford staff member and will help supervise a group of about 15-18 students through their learning activities.  Parents will help with overall student guidance during free time, evening activities, and meals. School staff are responsible for maintaining student behavior and any discipline problem that may arise (usually pretty minor).  Parents are usually placed in the same learning group with their child.

Chaperoning can can be a fun way to spend time with your child and their friends!

Our desire is that parent chaperones would be able to attend for free, the reality is that Sanford has to pay the full price for every adult.  Just as we won’t turn down a student who can’t pay we won’t turn down a chaperone who might not be able to afford the full cost of $195. We ask that chaperones pay as much as they can afford to help offset the cost.

After Eagle Bluff last year a student wrote this:

“I would thank them [chaperones] for being at Eagle Bluff and making the whole experience even better.”

Every chaperone needs to complete the Chaperone packet, the District Agreement form and Eagle Bluff liability forms must be completed.

NEW FOR 2019:  YOU NO LONGER NEED TO FILL OUT A BACKGROUND CHECK FORM.  Rather, simply click the link to MPS Volunteer website and complete the Google form.  There is no longer a $7 fee!  Here's the link: http://volmps.mpls.k12.mn.us/backgrounc_checks

Please contact your student's science teacher if you are interested in chaperoning with any questions you may have. Please turn in chaperone packets to the main office.

All forms should be returned to Sanford as soon as possible.
